Remember a few weeks back when I told you I’d be attending a silversmithing class this summer and asked for advice about what tools and supplies I needed?
I’ve made a bit of progress, and have some silver bezels soldered. I’ve also started fabricating the pieces of some silver pendants I thought would be fun to make.
This class has been a lot of fun so far. The women are funny and much hilarity ensues during each session. I’ve gotten over my fear of burning the place down and feel pretty comfortable with the torch now. So comfortable in fact, that I’ve got a bench set up in the garage. Lovely hubby was kind enough to clear a work space for me for my torch and all the associated accoutrements.
I know, the bezels look HORRIBLE as they still need to be trimmed, cleaned and polished. But it is progress.

Tomorrow I’ll post a pic of the silver and blue aventurine ring I finished.
Don’t miss a single post.

Lookin’ good…don’t you just love silversmithing…anxious to see your ring. I also love taking classes; can’t wait to take more of them.
Your jewelry is beautiful! This will definitely be a stop for me when I do my Christmas shopping! I don’t know how you do it! I took a pottery class this last winter, and I had to have private tutoring in order to keep up with the class. The wheel eluded me, my long fingernails left grooves in the pots, the teacher was young enough to be my granddaughter, and the other people in the class were making things like pitchers and colanders as I was trying to make a small plate. I am PROUD of that plate, however, and it has a place of honor on my coffee table. What did I learn from taking that class? IT IS MUCH EASIER TO JUST GO ON ETSY AND BUY SOMETHING.
LOL Molly
Thank you for the nice comments.

Oh I’m so jealous! I went to get all the info about the Silversmithing class through the local Gem & Mineral Society that I belong to and I just can’t afford all the supplies right now. It is the one thing I really REALLY want to learn. Fun getting to see what you are making though and looking forward to seeing the ring!
They look awesome! Can’t wait to see finished products!
looks like you’re learning lots of cool stuff in your class!
