Talented artists, designers and creators sell their handmade items on Artfire and Etsy. Each Thursday I highlight some of the items that have caught my eye in recent searches on the two sites.
Clicking on each image will link you to the seller of each item if you want to purchase it.
If you haven’t opened an account on etsy to purchase handmade items, you really should. Also, if you haven’t checked out Artfire in a while, you can find some really unique gifts on the site. Artfire doesn’t require you to open an account to purchase handmade goods. Easy peasy.
As we’re counting down the minutes until the new year, I thought I’d show you some of the time keeping items I found in my search this week.
Enjoy!

I finished a new bezel set artisan fused rainbow colored glass pendant this weekend. I just love the bright colors. I bought the cabs from an Artfire artist, and setting them makes me smile. I mean, how could you NOT be happy wearing these happy necklaces? I left the silver shiny instead of oxidizing it. I like the way the shine of the silver partners with the shiny, happy colors of the fused glass cab.

It’s easy, right? No, not so much. I tried fusing some fine silver rings and did NOT have the best results. I think I managed to salvage one ring out of the seven I tried.
In addition to the very obvious lumps where the silver tried its best to form a nice silver ball, the backs of most of the rings are flat. I think from now on I’ll stick to just soldering my rings together. So what to do with all the fine silver I bought? hmmmmm
Have you had better luck fusing silver? What’s your technique, aka secret.

I don’t usually use highly dyed stones in my jewelry. But these hot pink / fuschia colored briolettes were just too yummy to pass up. I wrapped the faceted briolette with over 2 feet of gun metal finished sterling silver and then hung from a gun metal finished silver chain.
Hello’s sterling silver curb chain is 18 in long (about 48 cm) and the pendant adds another inch (2.5 cm) to the necklace length.I can make the chain shorter or longer too if you’d like.

There are terms and conditions, but I’ve keep them pretty simple.
After checking out, please send your recipient’s name and email address to me to create the individual gift certificate and redemption code. If you would like, please also tell me what it is for and I will include a note for your recipient telling the individual who it is from and why.
If you need another denomination than is available, you can contact me to make a custom listing for you.

If you find yourself on twitter a lot, you’ve probably discovered that the volume people you can befriend multiples nearly exponentially per day. Thank goodness for Twitter lists… they are my new friend!
Additionally, I’ve found two online free tools for twitter that I’d like to share with everyone.
The first is called Friend or Follow. Who are you following that’s not following you back? Who’s following you that you aren’t following back? Find out using the Friend or Follow tool. It is super easy to use and pretty fast, even if you have a lot of twitter friends. My only complaint? I wish there was a link for following or unfollowing all at once when your results were presented. But, otherwise, this is a big thumbs up from me.
The second free twitter tool is called Tweet Stats. Also super easy to use, and in addition to providing you will nearly ALL the metrics you could want about your tweeting habits, it also provides some cool little functionality around detailing your tweet and hash clouds. Cool, huh?
What tools do you use that make your twitter experience easier to manage?

I’ve been lucky enough to receive a few custom orders from buyers that stumbled across my etsy ShinyAdornments shop. I like receiving custom requests, they help me think about other designs I wouldn’t have otherwise.
Generally, I accept custom orders within the context of my existing work. If someone sees a style, but not quite the right color, or a color but not quite the right style, send me an email. I’ll discuss your ideas and we can develop the perfect piece to your specifications.
Here are two recent custom requests that are now part of my shop’s inventory:
What custom requests have you received that are now part of your shop repertoire?
