My Foredom arrived last week. Once I set it up, I went to work finishing a couple of bezel set lab necklaces I’d been working on. I also melted three bezels. Aargh. Good thing I can reuse the silver in another piece.
I love labradorite. It’s gorgeous stone, but really difficult to photograph. According to Rings & Things “When light hits labradorite from a particular direction, it can display striking rainbow-colored reflections (violet, blue, green, yellow, orange and red) known as labradorescence or schiller. Labradorite has been described as looking like gasoline lying on water or the delicate wings of a tropical butterfly. “
The first cab flashes a brilliant blue. The second pendant is more green blue.

TWO WEEKS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!
There are some really talented artists, designers and creators that sell their handmade items on Artfire and etsy. Each Thursday I highlight some of the items that catch my eye.
Clicking on each image will link you to the seller of each item, if you decide you simply must purchase it.
If you haven’t opened an account on etsy to purchase handmade items, you really should. Also, if you haven’t checked out Artfire in a while, you can find some really unique gifts on the site. Artfire doesn’t require you to open an account to purchase handmade goods. Easy peasy.
I thought, given the proximity to the impending holiday, that a Shiny Spotlight featuring potential stocking stuffers (at least ones I want in MY stocking) might be fun.
Enjoy!

Zibbet.com is offering sellers a LIFETIME Premium Account for just $120 USD. One flat fee to sell on Zibbet; forever. No additional fees to pay; EVER. However, there is a catch. (You knew there would be, right? )
This is a limited time offer only. There are only 50 left at the $120 price. Once they are sold, the price will increase by $10 for the next 50 accounts sold. Jonathan Peacock, CEO of Zibbet says “they have proven VERY popular, with 150 Lifetime accounts sold in just 10 days.” Premium sellers will have access to all current and future ‘Premium only’ features on the site.
Jonathan also says that for those wishing to participate, “we’re building an ‘easy payment plan’ option where sellers will be able to pay in 3 installments. This was requested by a number of people and should be ready sometime in the next 24-48 hours”
Do you sell on Zibbet.com? What do you think so far?

Have you installed the new My Etsy application on your Facebook fan page? It adds a tab to your fan page that posts the items from your Etsy shop. It’s really pretty easy. You can find detailed instructions and more in the etsy forum thread about installing it:

We’ve all done it, right? Not paying attention while setting a stone. Pushing too hard with the bezel setter, I slipped and totally scratched the surface of the cab I was working on.
With this one, there was NO saving it. The scratch is HUGE. And yes, there were some rather choice expletives let loose. I’ll not share those with you today.
Truth is, scratching the cab wasn’t a total loss. The bezel was too tall for the cab in the first place, and I’d never have sold this little ring. And this was the first time I’d successfully finished a version using three silver wires as bands without melting at least one of them too.
I decided to complete smoothing out the bezel before tossing the ring aside. It gave me some good practice smoothing out the little dents made by the setter.
Oh, I’ll take it apart and reuse the silver. But it was a good exercise to go ahead and finish it out before disassembling it.
What do you do with your ‘oops’?

This Friday,I thought I’d share a few more of the funny blogs I’ve subscribed. If you don’t have them saved as favorites in your Google Reader, you may want to add them.
Regretsy: The best (or worst) that etsy has to offer. Don’t miss the comments on each item. Oh, and please don’t be eating or drinking while reading or prepare to invest in a new keyboard.
People of Walmart: I swear sometimes I don’t know whether to laugh or cry at some of the photos on this site. I mean, sheesh, this is our gene pool people.
